Wally’s first week with us ended with a bang! He was quite the social butterfly, even without his shots. It takes a lot of creativity to come up with places where other dogs haven’t yet been. Usually if other dogs haven’t been there it’s because dogs aren’t allowed, so how do you take a young puppy out and about?! That’s when you get creative.
Isaac and I were shocked to see bright sunshine on Friday afternoon so both of us got off work early to take Wally out for some fun. He sat quietly when we went to the bank drive thru, not appearing to notice the suction tube whisking our money off to parts unknown. All he cared about was his pig hoof, which is easily his favorite toy. We were planning to stop at the sheriff’s dept so he could meet people in uniform but those lucky people get off at 3:30 every day. Instead he went into Silver City with us to buy some beer for that night’s puppy pizza party. I stood by the door, holding him so as to keep a low profile and avoid the evil eye of management, but we were quickly outed by the ooh’s and aah’s of every female employee in the building. Luckily no one minded and really, who can resist an adorable puppy wearing a little coat?
People started showing up around 5pm: my best friend Alyssa, my sister and her boyfriend Charlie, my mom, our friend Brian. Wally was a very gracious host who spent a little time with everyone and charmed their socks off. By the time Alyssa left she decided she wants one!
To be continued…. (sorry, just too long)
