And then it all comes together like — BOOM! Winner!

06 May

The big news around these parts is that I finally got a new job! This is incredibly exciting because my old job required me to commute 3+ hours per day, meaning I had approximately zero personal life and no time for Wally. It was a really difficult 5 months for us. Luckily I have my mom around and she did a ton of work to keep Wally happy in my absence. Thanks Mom! But Wally is a momma’s boy and my being gone so much was a huge burden on his psyche. We are now dealing with some rather annoying separation anxiety issues, something we dealt with before on a much more minor scale. No big.

Happily, the commute will no longer be an issue! Starting May 13 my commute will be 15min each way and I’ll have a one hour lunch. That means 3 hours are added to my day and I have time to run home midday if needed. Which will be a fabulous thing once Baby Girl arrives this summer (I’m so stoked). In the meantime Wally gets me for this entire week since I cashed out my vacation to take some time off. We’re really enjoying the sunshine!

This is my adorable face, whatchoo think? Will it make you give me my toy?

Oh and PS — If it cheers you up at all — Miles failed CGC because of his “Momma’s boy” issues. I NEVER imagined he would be the poster child for passing the “reaction to another dog / reaction to distractions” segments, and then FAIL “supervised separation” horribly. How unexpected… He was great in a training setting with other dogs and distractions, but when left alone without me? He was a whimpering mess. He knew both trainers well! We were positive he would fail due to jumping all over them. Surprisingly, that was not the case. He went nuts trying to get me back, and couldnt care less about them. Sigh… Terriers… They are too smart!!!

I could see Wally failing both of those tests! He loves other dogs waaaaay too much and then when I’m not around he turns into a big pile of whimpering baby–dog. :p Eventually I’m going to go for the CGC but we definitely need more work before that happens!

SO glad you got a new job — I can’t imagine how tough the last half year has been for you. Even at my most busy times, I have always been a 15 minute drive from Miles. I admire your strength and perseverance. And you look great! :) Loving the updates. Hugs from *slightly* further North… – EM
